Scotland: Day 2

Chris and I near the harbor in Stonehaven

Stonehaven is about 15 miles south of Aberdeen.

This is one of my favorite shots. I guess it's the Wisconsin girl coming out in me! I took this near Dunnottar Castle.

Dunnottar Castle is right outside of Stonehaven.

The castle is right on the coast of the North Sea. It is a breathtaking view.

We saw families picknicking outside of the castle. That will be us next year!

Inside the castle. Not really sure why I took this pic. Don't know what it was. Probably a dungeon for poor prisoners or something spooky like that.

Possibly Chris' future place of employment!

Scotland: Day 1

Chris and I in front of St. Andrew's Church, where we slept and ate our meals (This was not the church we were ministering with that week.)

This is in the middle of Ayr, where we spent the majority of our time. The people in the yellow shirts were part of our group. (This really helped us blend into the crowd and not look like tourists, don't you think?)

This was on a Friday afternoon, but the town was crowded! Everyone walks everywhere to do their shopping and errands.

Another shot of Ayr. The tower in the background is a William Wallace memorial.

This is along the coast of the Irish Sea, where we walked that evening.

I wonder how much that mini-castle costs per month?

This is a very typical scene in Scotland: beautiful, green hills in the distance.

It was so nice to have lots of people to take a picture of Chris and me, so we didn't have lots of "solo" pictures

A breathtaking view of some cliffs along the coast of the Irish Sea.

We never had so many pictures of just us and no Luke! Can you tell that we've been traveling all day, are jet-lagged and can't wait to hit the hay?

Our Trip to Nashville

You gotta love these pics. We used to take them all the time when we were dating. Obviously, we're a little rusty on getting it centered.

Sunday we visited The Hermitage, Andrew Jackson's home/plantation (both before & after his presidency). I love this kind of stuff. This is taken at the front of the path leading to the mansion. Can't you just imagine the buggys riding up to the house?

The gravesite of Andrew & Rachel Jackson, in "Rachel's Garden" on the side of the mansion.

Downtown Nashville by a statute near Fort Nashborough along the river.

Now we're getting better! On the way home on Monday, we stopped at Mammoth Cave National Park. We didn't really think ahead enough to realize that this park is an all-day event, so we didn't go on any tours of the caves.

We did take a walk on a walking path that was wheelchair friendly. Yeah, that was exciting.

When we got home, we took a few pictures of Papa & Grandma with the kids. Everyone was still alive when we got home, but the babysitters looked pretty worn out!
